2011 Goals: Dream Bigger-Recap!
It’s that time of year again folks where everybody and their mom are writing their “2012 Goals”, “2011 in Review” or “Best of ________ in 2011″ posts. I’ll try to keep this one short, sweet, and focused.
If you remember from my 2011 Goals post “2011-Dream Bigger” I had more than a few goals to get me through the year and motivate me to life live as full as possible.
So how did I do on my 2011 goals?
1. Read at least 10 books (not for school) that I’ve never read before. I did not do well here. School was new to me (hadn’t been back in 2 years) and anything I read was either online or for school. Not saying I didn’t read at all, I just didn’t read 10 books.
2. Memorize a book of the Bible. Nope. Even Philemon slipped through the cracks of my brain.
3. Take more photos (and share them with others).DONE. This was one of the highlights of my year! I took over 50,000 photos and attended over 10 concerts. It was great. All of the photos can be seen on Facebook or on the blog (what you’re reading).
4. Learn 10 challenging songs on guitar and play them all the way through. Nope. Just didn’t cut it!
5. Learn more about & encourage my girlfriend’s dreams. DONE! This year my girlfriend Aaren Lee got her dreams built up of capturing the moment by shooting a wedding and a few concerts with me. She also did a ton of her own personal shoots that I helped her with and is planning on launching her site soon! I can’t wait!
6. Finish a semester with at least a B average. DONE. Finished my first semester back with a 3.41 and the latest semester with a 3.2!
7. Go to an NFL game. The finances just weren’t there this year. It’s an investment, especially if you want good seats!
8. Drink more water. DONE! I am Evan’s favorite customer. I drink half a gallon a day at least now.
9. Run a 9 minute mile. Unfortunately didn’t get there yet. (But I’m starting P90x in a few days so I’ll get there!)
11. Invest more/save. DONE!
12. Find a church to call home for a while. DONE! I actually spent most of my time when I wasn’t leading worship or taking photos at Engage and Grace of Bel Air. It was great to be in a consistent environment when learning about Christ and allowing my life to continue to be changed.
13. Be able to cook a new meal. DONE! I cooked Aaren a whole chicken, green bean casserole, and mashed potatoes. Like a boss!
14. Grow a big beard by not shaving for the entire year. Unfortunately between a few specialty gigs I felt it was better to trim/shave. Oh well!
15. Learn the Philadelphia SEPTA train/bus system better. DONE! 11, 17, 23, 56, 99, 123, 124, 125, 139, 141, BSL, MFL, etc. My first 8 months of this year were carless and so I learned to get around very well. It’s cheap, not as-creepy-as-everyone-thinks, and a fun way to learn the city and get some thinking time!
Stay tuned for my 2012 Goals. Feel free to drop me a line on Twitter or Facebook with how you did on your 2011 goals or what your 2012 plans are! Peace!
