ForgeConference at the Beach!

In addition to shooting Aaren at the ForgeConference and the Dunn & Wilt portraits, I was also there to be the official conference photographer and really capture the essence of what goes on at a small location-big learning/feature conference like ForgeConference. Even though it’s built for the small church, ForgeCon happens in multiple rooms, buildings, and even towns which made it a challenge to be everywhere and get everything!

Some highlights of ForgeConference:

  • Meeting Joe Day (worship pastor at Mars Hill Shoreline)
  • Making new friends like Nate Fancher, Joel Klampert, John Voelz, and many more!
  • Once again working with Doug Gould, my favorite worship-tech teacher!
  • And of course shooting my new favorite soundscapes band, Dunn & Wilt’s portraits!

It’s a great conference for anyone in the small church and you should attend next year! Enjoy the photos.

Big thanks to everyone involved. Here’s a list of links of everyone from this year’s conference!

Aaren Attends ForgeConference

In 2011 one of the highlights of the year was getting to photograph ForgeConference. ForgeConference is a conference (duh!) where worship leaders, speakers, sound engineers, musicians, and all types of people come to learn and interact with the top people in the worship music industry. It also specializes in being one of the “deep” conferences as one of it’s main features is to be open and talk about the current issues facing each others’ worship lives or churches.

The conference is held at Ocean Grove Campground in New Jersey and it’s an absolutely beautiful location. While down here, I also got to photograph the great soundscape band Dunn & Wilt.

It was a great time. Anyway, this year Aaren was able to attend and even got her own free lodging/food courtesy of the ForgeCon management. We had a mini-photoshoot during the lunch hour one of the days and I we had a great time. Aaren is always a pleasure to photograph!

Dunn & Wilt at Ocean Grove

You may be wondering if I made a mistake when writing the title for this post. “Doesn’t he mean Brooks & Dunn?”. Well no, although that would be awesome, these guys are much more awesome.

I met Jeremy Dunn and Dan Wilt through my good friend Joel Klampert. Joel got me the gig of photographer at ForgeConference and apparently the guys had never been to this part of New Jersey before (Ocean Grove to be exact) and thought it’d be great to get some band portraits done at some of the unique locations, mainly the beach. So they emailed me, we talked and we ended up forming a great relationship as well as making some great images!

If you’ve never heard Dunn & Wilt’s music, most of it is FREE and you can get it here: dunnandwilt.com
